I received some wedding footage on a DVD to edit, but FCP won't import the files. They are .VOB and .MOD files. What program do I need to convert these files to something that FCP will import? (I am using FCP 7.01).
Thanks, Mark

What you need to research are called "DVD ripping" tools which allow you capture files off a DVD. Handbrake is one I know of but there are many.

There are also very low tech methods like doing a simple screen capture of the video playing on your computer but honestly the best way is to see if you can get the original source files

mpeg streamclip will convert these for you. To rip footage directly from a DVD I use DVDXDV.

I hope this helps,

I usually use mpeg streamclip, very easy to use but Handbrake has also got a good rep. Also, if you can make a disc image in Disk Utility then you should be able to easily burn another copy.
